Think Dutchess

Technology

Computer and micro electronics manufacturing has long been the leading industry cluster in Dutchess County. The county has a distinguished record of success in using its economic development team to provide continuous, well-integrated assistance to technology companies. This intensive teamwork paves the way for sustained business success for existing employers and helps insure a smooth transition for relocating or expanding companies.Recently we landed the first solar cell manufacturer, SpecterWatt, in NYS in 2009 and in 2010 Life Medical Technologies a cancer detection device manuifacturer.

Payroll in electronics manufacturing in Dutchess County exceeds $1 billion. The county's diverse technology economy is anchored by the continued strength of IBM and by the presence of numerous businesses related to the county's thriving semiconductor cluster.

Dutchess County's semiconductor-related businesses are now joined by a burgeoning solar cluster-a direct result of the county's longstanding reputation as a prime location for technology companies, and because of the synergies between semiconductor and solar manufacturing.

We are offering The Hudson Valley Technology Campus-a 160-acre, world-class manufacturing and R&D site formerly owned by IBM for Sale or Lease.

IBM was key in the attraction of Spectra Watt, Inc., a leading manufacturer of photovoltaic cells that will occuppy 142,000 sf in the Hudson Valley Research Park and they are first one in New York State. IBM is working with DCEDC to attract other Solar firms in space from 25,000 sf to 273,000 sf permitted for over 2,000 chemicals and gasses. New tenants can be up and running as soon as they move in because most permits are in place now and delivery systems are in place..
